May seems to have disappeared right before my eyes, not only have I finished university for the year, but I’ve also been busy sorting out extra work for the summer. Here are a few products I’ve been using thoroughly over the past month.
Rimmel London – Stay Matte primer (£3.99, Superdrug) To me, the thought of using a primer seemed like a waste of time. Why add another layer of product to my face? However, I’ve been proved completely wrong by the little bottle of wonders. No matter how expensive the foundation is that I’m wearing, it will be swallowed up by my skin within an hour, I’ve found than a primer not only helps the foundation set, but stay! I cannot stress how impressed I am, for such a reasonable price. It’s made my foundation last at work, at uni and also on nights out – which means no more orange avalanche on my face! 8/10
Toni & Guy – Sea Salt Texturising Spray (£4.99, Superdrug) I recently went for a chop at my local hair salon and fancied a bit of a change. I had my long hair cut to a medium length, adding layers and natural looking loose curls. I always ask my hair dresser what he or she is using on my hair, and the lovely lady cutting mine used a sea salt spray. I’d heard of the salt sprays before, but thought they didn’t really do a lot. I’ve been using the Toni and Guy spray after I dry my hair to create a bit of texture. It also helps to lift my hair on the days it’s looking a little flat. It’s also a fantastic product to apply after curling to create the really natural looking ‘beachy waves’. 7/10
MAC eyeshadows (‘Woodwinked and All That Glitters’) (£13, MAC at Debenhams) Everyone that knows me knows I am shocking when it comes to money and saving it. I’ve always stuck with cheap eyeshadows from Boots as I usually end up dropping and cracking them anyway. However, for Christmas I was treated to two lovely shades from MAC, and I’ve only really started using them properly in May. ‘All That Glitters’ is a beautiful bronze like brown shade with a hint of glitter to it. It’s made a glorious base shade to ‘Woodwinked’, A darker shimmering brown. Creating smokey eyes with these has been my ‘go-to’ look recently, matched with a cat eye liner and thick lashes. I’ll admit, they are not the cheapest of eyeshadows, however they really are lovely products and will last a very long time. I highly recommend. 9/10
Pink and Black French Bulldog Pocket Mirror (Primark, £1.50?) I’m one of those weirdos who you will see walking through town using their phone camera/phone screen as a reflection. I always find having a mirror really handy, especially as a contact lens wearer, I often need to check if somethings in my eye/or if it is irritated. I’m absolutely obsessed with Pugs and French Bulldogs, and this cute little mirror seemed like a must for my handbag. 7/10
Rimmel London ’60 Seconds Super Shine’ Nail Varnish in Shade ‘203, Lose Your Lingerie’ (£1.99, Superdrug) In the spring/summer time, I think there’s nothing nicer on nails than a fresh pink or natural looking colour. I have been loving this shade from Rimmel London. It’s a very clean looking shade of light pink and matches by pale skin tone well. It lasts a fair few days, but does chip and crack pretty easily. Considering the price, I cannot complain, and it really is a lovely product. I look forward to seeing what shades they bring out later in the summer. 6/10
MAC Lipstick In Shade ‘Shy Girl’ (£15.50, MAC at Debenhams) I find it quite funny that it’s my favourite shade of lipstick at the moment and it matches my personality pretty well, ‘shy’! This shade is a lovely dark nude and looks amazing paired with smokey eyes, or even a simple cat eye. I find it really similar to the ‘Velvet Teddy’ lipstick by Mac. There’s nothing negative to say about this shade for me! 9/10
