The Foundation I’ve Fallen in Love With

foundation

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect high street foundation for a while now. As I have a few problems with my skin, for a while I only stuck to high end make-up brands for my foundation, however, I often found a lot of the formulations were similar to those that could be bought in Boots, it’s just that they had an expensive name on them.

For the past few months, I have stuck with the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, but like with most products, I’ve fallen out of love with it. I’ve also started to get irritated with the ‘glittery finish’ it leaves – it reminds me of those glittery body sprays us girls would use at school discos back in the day. I’ve almost finished my second bottle, so I thought that it’s time to try something new.

I’ll admit, shopping for foundation isn’t one of my favourite tasks. I usually end up with the back of my hand being covered in about 60 different shades of beige and also being very frustrated as I cannot find the right shade for me. There’s also something about those tester bottles which are usually filthy with dried up product around them; it puts me off! Crusty tester bottles aside, I’ve managed to find my new favourite foundation.

After at least a twenty minute browse of different liquid foundations, the L’Oréal Infallible foundation ended up being my latest purchase. I bought both the liquid foundation (in shade 125, Natural Rose) and the Matte Powder (in shade 123, Warm Vanilla).

After moisturising, I’ll use my Real Techniques ‘Expert Face Brush’ to blend one-pumps worth of product on to my face; starting from the centre of my face, outwards. The liquid gives a build-able, medium coverage. As I use the powder on top, I find that one pump is plenty and evens my skin tone nicely. I’ll then use the powder along with the sponge it comes with (It’s actually a very good sponge!) to dab on the product. Together, these products create a matte finish that isn’t too harsh – for me, it’s just right. As for it lasting 24 hours, I would say this is a slight exaggeration…but the staying power of this product is wonderful, it’s easily lasted well during my days at uni. It’s safe to say I will be sticking with this foundation for a while!
